Co-Writing Project “Match”

One of the cool things about the Nashville music scene is that co-writing is a big thing in town. More so than any other place that I’ve lived and played. There are soooo many songwriter’s here (me included) with all kinds of styles, strengths and weaknesses in their songwriting, and a desire to get better. So there’s a lot to be gained (usually mutually) by seeing a writer you like playing out and saying “Hey, I liked your music. Let’s co-write.” It happens all the time here. :)

For me co-writing has been a big learning curve because I’m so used to my idiosyncrasies and approach. But having to think about new ways of writing, different metaphors that you don’t normally approach, new chord progressions/melody lines is one of the major draws of co-writing for me. Also, it helps build friendships with other great writer’s. Co-writing = good.

So here’s a co-write project that we’ve recently finished up. This was based on a song I previously had written, but I didn’t have an outlet for it. So I brought it up with Bob Pennington and we made some changes to make it a song that we’re currently working on placing. The songs called “Match”. Enjoy!

I have some more projects co-written with Bob, so stay tuned!
